Become a Volunteer

Please Note:  If you want to foster an animal, please fill out a Foster Application.  The Volunteer Process and Volunteer Application found on this page are for "non-foster" volunteers only.

Volunteering for an animal rescue is a gratifying and worthwhile experience.  Volunteering will enable you to work with like-minded, caring individuals.  It also provides the  opportunity to apply your skills and experience, and even develop new ones.

FLR has numerous (non-foster) volunteer opportunities.  These include:
  • Helping at adoption events
  • Performing home visits
  • Transporting animals
  • Posting to social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest)
  • Contributing to FLR's educational programs
  • Reviewing incoming adoption applications
  • Identifying potential foster parents
  • Working on the medical and veterinary aspect of rescue
  • Sending thank-you notes to donors
  • Creating fundraising opportunities
  • Identifying opportuntites for community involvement and interaction
  • Working on FLR's animal database
Volunteer opportunities vary in the amount of time required to perform them.  For example, volunteering to write thank you notes to our donors requires less time (and different skills) than volunteering to conduct home visits for prospective fosters and adopters.

We will be happy to help you choose an activity that best suits your interests and schedule.  We look forward to working with you.

Volunteer Application Process

There are several steps in FLR's volunteer approval process:
  1. You complete and submit the Volunteer Application.
  2. FLR reviews your application.
  3. An FLR representative will contact you to discuss your application.
  4. FLR will consider the information gathered and notify you of the outcome.  If you are approved, you will be asked to sign our NDA and mail it back to us to complete the application process.  You will then be given a specific role and the name(s) of other volunteers with whom you will be working.
The volunteer approval process may take up to a week, depending on your availability and our workload.  Please keep in mind that FLR is an all-volunteer workforce comprised of people who dedicate some of their free time to saving animals.  We try very hard to process each application in a timely manner, but sometimes life gets in the way.  If you are concerned about the status of your application, please email the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer-coordinator@fierceloverescue.org.

Volunteer Application

FLR's Volunteer Application is not long, but you may want to think about the area in which you want to work (as well as our open positions) before you begin.  You do not need an account to submit the Volunteer Application.  But if you are not registered and need to step away from the computer, your partially completed Volunteer Application cannot be saved.

If you are ready to submit an application, please click the button below.   By clicking the button, you acknowledge that you have read the information on this webpage.
